Alexander joins violinist Nathan Meltzer, pianist Chelsea Wang, and violin expert Stefan Hersh at Guarneri Hall for Revolutions I, an exploration of the music and politics of 1796 in the aftermath of the French Revolution. Through works by Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven, the program examines how revolutionary changes in violin bow design helped usher in the heightened emotional expression of the Romantic era.
Alexander joins pianist Chelsea Wang, violinists Nathan Meltzer and Eric Gratz, clarinetist Katherine Jimoh, violist Brian Hong, and social scientist Andreas Glaeser at Guarneri Hall for Revolutions II, an exploration of the political, social, and musical transformations that followed World War I and the Russian Revolution. Featuring works by Ravel, Stravinsky, and Janáček, the program examines how a rapidly changing world gave rise to bold new musical languages and artistic freedoms.
Alexander joins fellow cellist Coleman Itzkoff, conductor Scott Krijnen, and the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra to celebrate the orchestra's 60th Anniversary Season with an all-cello program featuring Vivaldi's Cello Concerto in A minor, RV 419, Vivaldi's Double Cello Concerto in G minor, RV 531, and Giovanni Sollima's exhilarating Violoncelles, Vibrez! for two cellos and string orchestra.
Alexander joins GRAMMY-nominated pianist and composer John Novacek at Guarneri Hall for the world premiere of Novacek's Two Rags for cello and piano. The performance is part of Syncopated America, a celebration of the rich tradition of American ragtime featuring classic works by Scott Joplin, Joseph Lamb, James Scott, and others alongside Novacek's own brilliantly crafted compositions.
